Harrison's Weir

On the River Tame, near to which is a woodland where motorcycles go to die.

These were taken on a walk around Stockport, with Andy, Martin and Eptas. I thought I knew Stockport quite well but Andy's route took us to some interesting new (to me) places, such as the Market, built in 1851 on a 15th century market place, which seems to be thriving, selling some specialised goods. The adjacent St Mary's Church, built initially in 1190, was more sedate.

Attractive old shopping streets featured some independent retailers as well as tearful encounters. We had coffee and scones at the magnificent art deco Plaza and managed to sneak a view of the fantastic auditorium. Later, after visiting Robinson's Brewery we sampled some of the product at the hospitable Arden Arms.

Near the end of the walk, we encountered one of the more scarier aspects of Stockport life and were richly entertained by the entrance to the railway station car park.
