Searching for the Dippers again

A walk to local park today to feed the ducks and to see if the Dippers were around. I walked the river through the park without much luck. The Yew and Holly trees in the formal garden are heavy with berries and there were Song Thrush and Blackbirds taking advantage of them but no sign of Redwing of Fieldfare yet.

There was some lovely autumn colour in the trees reflected in the duck pond but I decided to Blip this photo of the weir on the river. This is a spot where you can see small trout sometimes but the water was too fast flowing today.

Just as I had my eye to the camera taking pictures I heard some alarm bird calls and looked up to see two Dippers fly down the river beneath the bridge I was standing on. They stopped on some rocks in a shallow section with much flapping of wings and tail bobbing until one gave up and flew down stream I take it this was two males displaying. It all happened too quick for me as by the time I took a few steps to see around the metalwork of the weir they were both gone. Perhaps next time.
