Guilt trip

Mr A & I had a ride out on the bike today; this was the first time since before our holiday!

We had planned to go to Lake Windermere, but a combination of late rising/dodgy weather forecast/hunger meant we stayed fairly local.

We rode out to Settle and found a couple of places to stop for lunch, but both had extortionate prices so we didn't bother.

Instead, we ended up at a place called Gardenmakers, which I last visited in 2005!

My boss at the time hired the cafe for our western themed Christmas party. We had a 3 course dinner followed by line dancing & I remember getting very drunk the host Andrew being very quick on glass filling duties!

The side of the cafe is covered only by polythene (like gazebo side panels, you can just see them in the background) and it was this feature I remembered from my last visit. Despite what seems to be a flimsy bit of cover, the place was lovely and warm.

They have the tiniest kitchen I've ever seen, but manage to produce wonderful things in there.

On today's visit, we were greeted by the 3 family dogs. They spent most of their time wandering around the tables looking for attention.
Of course, once food was served, that table had the dogs complete & undivided attention!

There was a card on the table saying despite the pleading looks, the dogs are very well fed so not to feed them. Non dog lovers could ask the owners to move the dogs away.

We had a lovely lunch there, although it was hard to ignore that sad little face looking at us eating!
