Umphang hike
Following a stomach churning 4 hour sangthaew journey through the north Thailand mountains - involving plenty of travel sickness from both mother and child, a lost baseball bat and a Thai soldier running after the truck for supplies - we arrived safely in Umphang. We stayed at the first place we found, which was one of the nicest places we've had the pleasure of staying at - a beautiful teak bungalow with a big comfy bed, a rustic style bathroom and a feral cat who (being a cat hater myself this must mean something) was pretty cute!
The hotel introduced us to Tom, a local guide whom after arranging a 3 day trek with suggested he takes us on a short hike for a great view over the town...and he wasn't wrong. The views were spectacular and we were able to see Burma in the far distance, as you can see on this blip!
