Between fen and mountains

The Sahorre valley

I realise that this will be read largely in the UK so I feel a bit guilty posting pictures of glorious weather but perhaps you can get some vicarious enjoyment. We walked the balcony from Py to Sahorre. You can see this high, fertile valley stretching below. The valley is full of smallholdings of apples, pears and even saffron. It was around 25 degrees but comfortable enough given that most of the climb was in the morning. After a pleasant lunch we descended into the village. There was plenty of food to gather, hazelnuts, walnuts, quinces, blackberries and a solitary mushroom. We then sat around in the garden for tea, biscuits and ice creams. According to my watch, the walk earned me a credit of 790 calories but I think I have easily used all that up!
