pear pie

we get a lot of pears this time of year in the vegbox. neither of us are very fond of pears though, which leads to all manner of cooking methods to get rid of them. i'm partial to pears in wine & spices, served hot with soya ice cream (so much nicer than regular ice cream)! Cathy found this recipe for pear pie in which you cook the pears in butter and sugar first, which makes the pie taste of popcorn and pears! amazing and also good with ice cream! :-)
