beginner's mind

when a friend of ours asked why i hadn't played my guitar in a while at the weekend i said it was because i didn't really feel inspired. he suggested that it was because i'd already got a wife and as such didn't need to impress anymore! i don't think it is that really - though i did take up the guitar 15 years ago (that long! goodness!) to impress girls! :-)

so, just in case, i wheeled out the old thing this morning before work and this little paperbook i bought years ago for 20p and never really read. i figured i'd work though it - starting right back at the start again... it is quite fun and this time i'm trying hard to get them 7th chords because i remember, younger, thinking they just sounded wrong and were awkward to play so i just skipped over them!

its good to start again, even when you've been doing something for ages!
