Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Muscat

Took SOOOO many photos today it was really difficult to choose but this this one shows some of the artwork in the Grand Mosque.
No-one knows the cost of the mosque, it was totally paid for, to the last Rial, by Sultan Qaboos as a gift to the people of Muscat and Oman.

It was, as mentioned yesterday, HOT here today but after the trips around the Mosque and to a Christian cemetery we had a good lunch and then two hours solid sleep. I'd set my phone to wake us (I'm sharing a room with a friend, Colin) but I could have slept until tomorrow morning easily!

We both went for a walk but because of the Eid Al Adha holiday nothing is open. We found a museum for the Sultan of Oman Armed Forces but it was also closed.

Off to Nizwah tomorrow early, 0800, breakfast is at 0630! A relaxing holiday this is not but it is exciting :-)
