Derelict Thursday: L'Abeille Audoise

Blipper SarumStroller has been running a "Derelict Thursday" challenge for the last couple of weeks. There is so much dereliction in Lézignan that the hard part is choosing one of the many crumbling buildings. The council has been claiming for years that it's going to revitalise the town centre. As part of this alleged strategy it buys up old buildings and then leaves them to crumble, thus making things look even worse.

I don't know if this building belongs to the council. I'm pretty sure the shop was still open when we first moved here in 1997; there used to be lots of these small local general stores, and I think L'Abeille Audoise must have been some sort of franchise -- I've seen them elsewhere. It's just round the corner from this derelict bakery.
