The view
After lunch we went for a stroll around the village, and I took the Sony just to take some snapshots. It's a delightful hamlet, just restored enough to be attractive without being chichi. I don't know how many permanent inhabitants there are, but probably in single figures. Sheep on the other hand are well into double figures -- clanking bells this morning heralded the arrival of a large flock at the feeding troughs in the paddock at the bottom of the garden. I don't think Mystère has seen sheep before; he was quite shocked. There are lots of blip opportunities, but today I chose the view from the edge of the village. The bell tower is very typical.
Later we went into Ainsa to shop and found it surprisingly hard to get basic supplies. My nickname for Spain has long been "land of no spice" because Spaniards seem so wary of all but a limited range of spices (paprika, cinnamon, saffron, and, er, that's it). I don't think I've ever been in a supermarket that didn't sell black pepper before though. Also, when we viewed the apartment we didn't bother to check on the kitchen equipment, and I wish we had because it's sadly lacking in more ways than one. Dinner was chicken grilled over charcoal in the fireplace as the oven doesn't work!
