Mono market

The market in Lézignan was a riot of colour this morning. Oranges, melons, apples, peaches, ceps, golden girolles, purple aubergines, bright red tomatoes, and above all piles of brilliant orange pumpkins and squashes, all gleaming in the bright sunlight. So I got home with a selection of very bright photos. This one had so many different colours in it that it looked a mess, so I decided to try a mono conversion. What a surprise -- I preferred it to the original!

I also found time to work my way through the chapter on mono conversion in my new Photoshop book. I went back to the raw file of Sunday's blip and tried again using different techniques. The result is better than my original attempts, but in this case I still prefer the colour version.
