Look into my eyes...
Today's my day, the day that I get a chance to do what I need/want to do without any interruptions. Aj's at Playschool and the big girls are at school.
Today's Playschool drop off was better than usual, Aj was upset but we didn't have any tears - Yay!!! She's doing so well and I'm really proud of her.
I had planned to get on with some ironing, but due to last nights meeting, I really needed to concentrate on our grant application. Our Community Asset listing his hit the newspapers and was published online today from last Thursday's edition of The Hinckley Times.
Here we are, Twins at Totstime have listed the concert room and skittle alley of Stoney Stanton Social Club as a building of community asset. We had to list the building so that we could apply for relevant grants to raise the capital to purchase the building. This is exactly what we are now doing; we're completing application forms and working tirelessly to ensure that the building is kept in the community for the community to use. It's not just Twins atTotstime and Totstime that this affects, there are other groups such as the Amateur Theatre Society, the Women's Institute and the Carnival committee that all use the venue. Why should this be taken away from us all because of the clubs own financial difficulties? We plan to purchase the building from the Club and restore it to it's former glory, whilst also improving the facilities and services within.
I watched the powerful Emma Watson presentation to the UN today and something that she said has really hit home with me ... "if not me, who. If not now, when.
This is so poignant to me with all that is going on, I'm not doing this to be spiteful, cause trouble or to make enemies; I am doing this to help the families that attend our groups, I am doing this to help my village keep a venue for their children to have celebrations in and to help keep a venue for other support groups and community groups. And yes, I am making enemies along the way, that's a very unfortunate side effect of it all, but I see the bigger picture. This isn't a personal gain, it's a community gain. If not me, who. If not now, when.
After my morning of completing applications, I had a bit more added to my tattoo (photo to follow) and then took R&P to the opticians.
The girls were really good, Pops' eyesight is remaining constant, which is fantastic news. Rubels' eyesight is improving and now needs her lenses changing, which is fabulous news :)
Another meeting me for tonight, this one is for the girls School. I'm standing down as the PTA chair, but plan to stay on the committee to help out where and when I can.
Yes, my girls and Peach keep me busy and no, I don't know where I find the time to do all that I do, but I do know that I like to help people. That's all that I'm doing and will keep on doing.......
