Mostly Six Five Oh

Seriously?

I had a seriously trying day today but my throat is feeling better, so that's something. At the end of my day I decided to walk over to the Eliot neighborhood to see what was happening with their seriously trying situation with the proposed gigantic build of the 8 story, 82 apartment building. My first blip on the development of the site at NE 7th and NE Russell was almost exactly a month ago, I'm happy to see that awareness and momentum has gathered speed in negotiating with the developers since then.

I signed the neighborhood's petition demanding a redesign and saw that they'd had a slot on one of the local news channels last week - hopefully everyone can play the video... The petition has lots of good information on it and it does seem that the developer has been responsive to the concerns of the neighborhood, up to a point, how much further remains to be seen.

This blip is of one of the homes on NE 7th just a block down from where the massive building would be constructed, it is typical of the homes in this neighborhood which are one or two stories high, with a few Victorians and Foursquares which are generally three stories, any new infill has been built to the same scale. Right opposite the site is a row of homes just like this. The Seriously? lawn sign on the parking strip was one of many that were in the front yards in this area, other signs said Demand Redesign. I hope they are successful. The City is changing the zoning code on the lot next year which may be helpful.

I'll do another update as things move along. Demo of the old service station will be coming up.

66ºF/19ºC - we've been having a big cool down, which is good.
