"Herbie"
My uncle, Dan Herb has been a role model to me throughout my entire life. He inspired me to study history and to make myself a better person. Herbie served in the Army as a paratrooper and often tells me stories of some of the things that he had done and some of the things that he did. I was surprised when he gave me one of his sets of “wings” that he had received during his service. He gave me moral support throughout my entire Eagle Scout project, and at my Court of Honor I presented him with the Eagle Scout Mentor Award. This photo was taken after my National Honors Society induction ceremony. My task for my acceptance speech was to pick a person who showed the points of the National Honors Society, naturally I chose Herbie. We had invited him, and since he was present for most of my other awards including the Woodsmen of the World American History Award, he was not expecting having a speech made about him. Afterwards, he asked me what my favorite class was, and I said history with Mr. Radel. His room happened to be the room we all met in so we choose a quote and got pictures taken together.
