Waterlogged
When I became a Boy Scout in 2008, I was promised an adventure that would change my life. When I became an Eagle Scout in 2012, I finally understood what that really meant. By that time I had already made some great friends, learned many new skills, and had a different outlook on life. Before I became an Eagle Scout, I was a Senior Patrol Leader, the top dog as we would say for the troop. When I held this position, I had arranged a trip to Gettysburg where we would hike the entire battlefield with my uncle as our personal guide. After I got my Eagle, I was appointed as the Junior Assistant Scoutmaster for the troop. I guess this was their way of putting me in charge again because they soon had me plan a trip to Antietam. So the arrangements were made; my uncle would guide us on Saturday around the battlefield and on Friday I would lead the scouts on the C&O canal. After a long hike on Friday, we were all tired, but nothing could prepare us for Saturday. We woke up, it was raining. We made breakfast, it was raining. We hiked, it was raining. It was just a constant downpour all day. This photo was taken towards the end of the hike at the famous Burnside’s Bridge where we look more like a homeless mob than a Boy Scout Troop. We all agreed that we would love to do it again sometime, after all of our stuff dried out.
