Valentines (Delay) Day
Peggy's fever broke last night and she woke up feeling a sore throat but much better than the weekend, We decided to take advantage of the wonderful So- Cal weather (and no teaching today) to go enjoy Laguna for the afternoon.
We are at Ruby's having lunch and a date shake. This became Ruby's a few years ago. Til then we just called it the date shake place. They've kept it pretty much the same, so far.
This view is from Ruby's looking down on the Crystal Cove Cafe and the Crystal Cove Cottages beyond. It's busy for a Monday in February.
The 13 cottages (originally 44) were built from the 20's to the 50's for seaside movie sets, get away for bohemians and even a drop off point during prohibition for rum-runners. After being declared a Historical District and State Park in 1979, today's cottages are reserved for guests through the State Park system. Reservation are accepted 7 months in advance and usually sell out within 10 minutes.
After lunch we drove down to our favorite cove on Cress Street Laguna Beach to hike down and walk around. Past Blips document our love for this place. Well, we found out our "private" romantic cove was not private and consequently not as romantic as it might have been. Still a great afternoon with my Valentine.
