Blue & Gold

This morning I took a drive out to Lizzie's vet to pick up another case of her diet food. I think she's hit a plateau -- a big one, about the size of Mesa Verde in Colorado. She has an appointment for a weigh-in in a couple of weeks, so we'll be keeping our paws crossed that there's good news.

Despite her recent forays into the street, Lizzie simply doesn’t do much and I’m not sure how to remedy that. She’ll play with toys occasionally but not for very long. When I get out the laser lite she’ll run after it a couple times then lie down and watch it. She and Snuffy never played together much either so short of getting her a kitten to play with, I don’t know what to do.

Speaking of Snuffy, yesterday I got an email from HomeAgain, the folks who made his pet tracking chip, telling me it was time to renew his membership. It made me sad. I miss him so much. My daughter just lost her beloved kitty, Hodge, and that just breaks my heart because we don’t know what happened to him – he just disappeared. As many animals as we’ve had over the years, we never get over losing one of them.

On a lighter note, in just over three weeks I’ll be heading to Indiana to see Rob. I can’t wait. It always amazes me how much fun we can have doing relatively benign things. No fancy entertainment for us. We’ll eat at our favorite restaurants and haunt our favorite shops, work on a landscaping project for his new home, and did I mention shop? The only thing we’ve planned is a road trip to Cleveland, and Chagrin Falls, Ohio, the hometown of Bill Waterson, the creator of the comic strip Calvin & Hobbs, my all-time favorite comic strip followed closely by Berkeley Breathed’s Bloom County and of course, Gary Larson’s Far Side. I have all three complete collections and read them on a regular basis because they never get tiresome and will cure any degree of the blues/depression. I think I’ll go read them now.
