Living in a cultural desert....
It's been a long summer where cultural pursuits have, by and large, been put on the back burner. We have been living in a cultural desert. So with the darker nights coming in we decided to do something about it.
We've got a few trips to the beautiful Royal Exchange Theatre coming up. First it's to see 'Hamlet' with the eponymous hero (is he a hero?) being intriguingly played by the wonderful Maxine Peake. She's a very accomplished actor and tickets are going fast if you want to see it. Even the London theatreati have been booking to come. I did the play at school and this has put me off seeing it until now. Even though I do enjoy Shakespeare. So well done Royal Exchange and Maxine Peake.
We've also got tickets for Tennessee Williams' 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' and the pre Christmas treat is 'Little Shop of Horrors.'
So that's the cultural drought dealt with...
