Shapes and Shadows Saturday
I didn´t think I would find any shadows today. Some friends arrived before 7 this morning to help Hubby prepare the walls of our house before rendering. It was already drizzling. The process is quite involved and started many weeks ago by gluing and anchoring 8cm thick blocks of polystyrene to the 60cm thick walls. After the final rendering the walls will be 70cm thick and provide excellent insulation for our cold winters here. (Hubby laughs when he looks at the way houses are built in Australia.) The energy rating we obtain means that we are entitled to an interest free loan for the structural renovations. Today´s work involved applying a reinforcing mesh over the polystyrene with a type of glue. It needs to be trowelled on quickly while each batch of glue is still workable, thus the need for a few extra hands. The sun came out after lunch casting some interesting shadows on the wall from the scaffolding. The photo is of the rear wall of the house. The smaller gable wall is the garage which used to be a stable.
