back-blip

Today we went to the Botanics for a picnic. I haven't been for years and was a bit disappointed to see they are now charging for entry into the tropical houses but nevermind. We had a lovely walk around and enjoyed a yummy picnic. Amelie and Isaac loved the rock garden as much as Donald and I used to! Amelie just wanted to wander off down the little paths and hills by herself and we had to watch as she could easily have been lost - we lost Granny! Luckily we found her again and headed back to the car only to discover we had a parking ticket. We were aboslutely furious becuase we had paid for a ticket and checked several times to make sure we were parked ok etc. We couldn't see why we might have one so Chris complained about it. Turned out we paid at the wrong machine (apparently not the one that was right next to the car) and got the wrong ticket and we were parked in a 6 hour bay and not a 9 hour bay. Which is still confusing because we got a 24 hour ticket and were there less than 6 hours. Anyway we don't want to contest any further because even though it wasn't obvious they have said we were definitely in the wrong and we don't want to have to pay £60 but Edinburgh City Council will definitely be getting a letter of complaint about it.

Not a great end to our day but we went home and Chris and I went for a run. We ran back to my Gran's house where she had made a delicious dinner for us all, roast chicken, roast ham, spiced peaches, prawn cocktail, roast potatoes, potato salad, salad, bread, olives......it was soooo good!
