A Basket Shop

This one of two basket-and-everything shops on the Borgo Gianotti in Lucca. This one is the smaller of the two and is on the corner of Borgo Gianotti and the Piazza delle Croce.

The Borgo Gianotti was once a village in its own right outside the walls and moat of Lucca.
It was a settlement of artisans, but few remain today. There is still a marmista (marble worker) and a picture framing shop but other premises have given way to a miscellany of little shops, including one where you can buy good wine from the barrel. We call it "The Street That Has Everything."
