Kachina

These figures are sometimes called "kachina dolls" but they are not dolls as such but representations of spirit beings. They're made by pueblo dwelling Native Americans of the Southwest and from the cottonwood tree.

I always hoped mine represented the weather and, if pointed in the right direction, could bring the sun. It either represents something else, entirely, or is entirely inefficient. More kachinas can be seen here: http://bit.ly/djxB3c
