Dabbling Duck
It's actually a Cape Teal. A duck which comes from South Africa and dabbling is what they do! No, I've not just popped there for the weekend. I was at WWT Martin Mere in Lancashire this afternoon. There are bird areas here with species from around the world.
The highlight was watching marsh harriers. They were too far away and moving far too much for me to photograph. I was also amazed by the herons catching mice. Other birds spotted were a little egret and a dabchick (little grebe) mother and her two little ones.
It's not the right time of year for many birds at the reserve but I enjoy my visits here at any time of the year. My other half was watching Preston NE. Who had the better deal??
