Monday: Circles

I went for a walk at lunchtime to get some fresh air and soak up the rays a bit.  I didn't venture very far, just an extended turn around the block.

While I was out, I was thinking about how differently you see things when you live as a foreigner in a place.  Seeing quirky things that are different from home is the best - and then one day you realise you don't see things in that way anymore and what was different has become commonplace.  I always think it's quite sad when that happens - it's like the newness has gone.

I guess you have to train yourself to keep looking with the eyes of a foreigner so that you can still see differently.  It's a bit of an art to keep it up but I'll keep trying.
