Fish 'n Chips
A day of meetings, the first of which was in the port of Leith, Edinburgh. This sculpture is of two fish, with their mouths wide open, and the bow of a boat, which on one side forms a seat. It is found at the entrance to Commercial Quay and was installed in the late 1990s as part of the redevelopment of the quay. Designed and made by a local blacksmith, it acts to attract passers by into the area and celebrate Leith's long seafaring history. It was particularly bright and cheerful in the morning sunshine and made a welcome distraction as I walked my way to work.
