Heather Hills

The wind got up last night and stayed up all day, so its been a bit of a wild day. I went up the John Buchan Way towards Cademuir hillfort to get this photograph of Peebles. In the distance you can see the Pentland Hills which stretch from the south of Edinburgh into the Scottish Borders. The hills are bathed in a cheerful pink and purple haze as the heather is in full bloom. I had a lovely walk; the swallows swooped amongst the sheep as I walked up the hill and as I sat amongst the heather the noise of the wind all around I could watch the approaching weather fronts come in across the hills; changing the light on the landscape as they came. This picture makes things look deceptively calm and sunny - it feels more like autumn than summer with the wind chill!
