The wide expanse of Morecambe Bay
Woke to a clear morning with great visibility and some super clouds. We went for breakfast at a Toby Carvery before spending a few more minutes on Morecambe seafront in the company of Eric Morecambe.
After that it was over to Grange and Kendal to visit some potential places for a holiday home near the Lakes. But nothing really caught the eye so it looks like we're working on Plan D now, Plans A, B and C having not come to fruition.
We spent a pleasant couple of hours in Kendal, having a coffee and a cake and a walk around the town and the River Kent. It was on the banks of the Kent that we observed the tribulations of 3 young cygnets who were vailantly, but unsuccessfully, trying to get over a fast running cascade of water. Their parents had forged ahead easily and were paddling upstream enjoying themselves oblivious of the fate of their brood. At last they noticed things were amiss, turned around and glided swiftly downsteam back to the youngsters.
The evening was spent with our good friends Alan and Irene at their place in Lindale near Grange where we had an excellent supper in great company which included Irene's brother and his wife.
