Forest

Today we were eagle-watching. Because the nesting sites can change from year to year and the White-tailed Eagles on Mull are so well-protected, there's no address on the leaflets. You call them and book, they take your name and registration and give you directions then - it feels a little like you're off to an illegal rave. Just to add to the secrecy there's a long drive along a thin twisty, sometimes mountainous road by Loch Na Keal, in the shadows of Ben More and Gribun Rocks, and then inland through woodland towards Loch Scridain. It was pretty cool - we saw eagles through telescopes that had been set up, trained on their nest, saw both a White-tailed and a Golden Eagle flying overhead and learned a great deal from the two experts on hand about the birds habits and re-introduction to the island since their extinction in the early twentieth century. Music: 'Scary Monsters.'
