"All over Europe the lights are going out......."

Yesterday was the anniversary of United Kingdom's declaration of war on Germany and effectively the start of World War One, in which one UK family in every six lost a loved one.
Symbolically people across the nation were asked to extinguish all lights at 10pm and light one candle.
We did, and here was our candle, still burning just after midnight.
