Flood Defence

3 am - very heavy rain and thunderstorms and then the village storm drain system failed which resulted in Niagara Falls coming through our garden (in this linked picture the back-door is bottom left). The blip is our defence against the water coming in the back-door. The water poured through the garden and down into our neighbours' gardens via our back footpath. At times the very fast flowing water was up to 18 inches deep by the back-door, thankfully the seal on the kitchen back-door managed to hold 99% of the water back – if this had failed we would have been completely flooded downstairs. Many of our neighbours have not been so lucky. The last time this happened was around 10 years ago - again the storm drain system failed.
