Spider, a long legged one

According to Google it appears to be a Common Garden Orb Weaver (Meta (Metellina) segmentata)

Here it is meticulously guarding its web. It suffered me as I tickled it with a grass stem encouraging it to change position so I could get a reasonable shot.

Very hot today and although I brought the boys out in the late afternoon they don't seem to want to go any further, they are both lying on the path panting.
