Old Abandoned Mill

Suzanne is home on a flying visit. Picked her up at Aylesbury Station before taking her to Edgcott to see Mum & be reunited with daughter Tara who had flown over with her. S had stayed on in London for 2 days, but put T on the train.

Had a quick drink then over to Gawcott for a meal which was very good. From there I (we) diverted to Hillesden to have a quick look at the Cathedral in the Fields which has long been a favourite place of mine.

Had a good explore & met Niel Comley, someone that I used to work with at BCC, then met someone who knew my family ...Mr Woods. He told me he was the vicar but I told him he looked more like farming stock which of course he was... HS2 is going straight through his farm & his land will be used as a railway maintenance siding...he didn't seem too worried as it is out of his hands. He'd just been up the tower for a look at the view. From there we went to another place I like to visit when passing this place in the picture. Its been abandoned for several years now & is the subject of a legal battle over who it belongs to. The car was there last time I visited but hasn't moved.

Its an interesting place...my dad & I used to go fishing in the Mill Race & we saw lots of fish today. Its also the place where my dad learnt to swim when as a boy he fell in the Mill Stream. I think it really was a case or sink or swim !

From there we went through Twyford, Marsh Gibbon & Charndon before driving through Calvert Green & then home for tea.

Left there about 2030.

Fine sunny day though it rained hard in the night just when N was doing the Gemstone Walk in Aylesbury along with 600 others raising money for our local hospice which has been very good to us over the years.
