The Blue Lagoon

Mr A & I had a ride out on the bike today, through Tockholes, Belmont, Rivington, Horwich, Chorley & back home again.

I was navigator, as I used to work in Horwich and the route we took was my scenic, summer route to work.

We stopped off en route at Rivington Hall Barn for lunch, and again in Horwich for a coffee.

It was a nice ride; the roads are great for two wheelers (there were a lot of cyclists out too).

Today's blip is of The Blue Lagoon at Belmont. The top photo is of it's former glory (and how I remember it) and underneath, how it was today.

I thought it was dry due to the weather, but have learned (whilst doing this blip) that it was drained in 2010 due to safety concerns.
It was always a really pretty little spot, but sadly quite a few people drowned, and according the report I read, it needed £40,000 spending on it to bring it up to the required safety standards; something that the owner wasn't willing to pay for.

What a shame :-(
