My Time Abroad

"We're Soarin, Flyin" - Drew Seeley

I spent July 7th cruising the sky somewhere over the Pacific Ocean. You now get an idea of how close I was actually sitting to my two friends. 12k later and you think you'd have some more elbow room.

The first movie I tried to watch was The Hobbit. The airline had all of New Zealand's prized-human-possession Peter Jackson's films. I thought maybe if I liked them, I could watch both The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings trilogies to pass the time. But, I was just too tired and not a fan of fantasy films to begin with. I decided I'd give them a chance when I was less tired.

Then the plane put lights on to serve us dinner and make us fill out the customs forms. I could barely keep my eyes open at this point. After a couple of hours of sleep I watched Gravity. Crazy-ass film, digital effects were phenomenal and very convincing. However... Sandra Bullock never would have lived through all that and George Clooney deserved a few more scenes. Oops spoilers.

I slept on and off, watched some episodes of Family Guy then Modern Family that they had on the demand menu. They served us cheese omelets for bfast and we hit some turbulence. The flight was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be and I only went to the bathroom once. We landed in NZ and they played the "Am I wrong, for thinking that we could be some thing for real.." song which was strange. Then they played Lorde and Coldplay and we got off and headed to Customs.

Somewhere in the duration of the flight we passed the international date line and it was July 8th 2014 or as NZ would put it, the 8th of July 2014. 6:00 in the morning.
