Norber Eratics
Glorious forecast, so we wanted to make the most of it. Set off from Austwick and headed to the remote valley known as Crummock Dale. I had seen a programme on this area and the Norbert Eratics just before I left Ireland and was keen to see this geological phenomena, it was amazing a vast area of huge Millstone Grit boulders moved by the glacier perched on Limestone bedrock.
Then we headed through flower rich grassland and over limestone pavements to a path that would take us to the summit of Ingleborough. Here we enjoyed astounding views over the Dales, out to Morcombe Bay and the Lake District. We descended into the picturesque village of Clapham to catch the train back to Ilkley.
