Appetizers

The grape crop produced on smaller vineyards is often grown under contract to the large often multi-national wine companies. Every year the large companies negotiate with the smaller growers. They agree as to the tonnage of grapes to be supplied to the big wine companies. The agreed to tonnage is harvested. In years of excess growth there will be a surplus that will be left on the vines. Once the allotted amount is harvested some growers will get the harvesters back onto their properties to take off the left–over fruit. In other vineyards the unwanted grapes are left to rot on the vines. The grapes eventually shrivel up to the consistency of raisins. I suspect there is even some alcohol left in the dried up fruit.
Gyspy loves grapes. I have heard it said that grapes, be they ripe and ready to harvest or dried on the vines, are very bad for dogs. Try telling that to Gyspy. She very naughtily and sneakingly nibbles away at the remains of the grapes. As you can see in today’s image she is looking a bit cross-eyed as she reaches for a mouthful. I suspect she was feeling just a teeny bit tiddly……..
