Double Take

It has been raining most of the day. I spent the afternoon in a meeting at the House for an Art Lover. Unfortunately the room was very warm, so feeling a bit under the weather now.

On the way back into Glasgow I stopped at the GFT and even though it was raining I liked this view of the reflections in the mirrored entrance canopy. I have rotated the image 180 degrees and then flipped it.

The GFT opened in May 1939, the Cosmo cinema was the first purpose-built 'art-house' cinema to open outside of London. Designed as the flagship for the Singleton chain (which also included the Kingsway, Mecca and Riddrie cinemas in Glasgow), this 850-seater was prolific cinema architect James McKissack's final design before his death.

Glasgow’s centre for lovers of film, GFT has been leading the way in specialised cinema for forty years. From art house cinema to late night cult screenings and from classics back on the big screen to independent documentaries.
