The only way is up
Today was a much better day - the ENT consultant came (on time!) and was great. He explained everything clearly and we agreed a plan of action - namely us moving to the normal postnatal ward and review on Thursday lunchtime. If she continues to have no issues, we can go home and if she does then I wouldn't want to go home anyway. I did ask if 2 days made a difference and we agreed that a few more days just to make sure wouldn't hurt.
Took a whole for the fella and I to pack up our stuff and in the meantime they found out that MBD's MRI was booked that afternoon so we agreed to go from the NICU unit. It was agreed to try without sedation so I had to stuff her with milk then the nurses swaddled her and she was a superstar. She had to be transported their in a very scary looking incubator but it was to make sure she didn't get any germs and is the safest way to go. I didn't want to watch her so the fella agreed to. One thing I hadn't realised is it was a full size adult machine and she looked so tiny laid on the bed. Apparently they then put on huge ear defenders as it's a noisy machine but it didn't bother her and she slept all the way through. They even needed to reboot the machine half way through so she was longer than planned but still movement.
After that we got transferred to the ward where she is next to my bed and we can actually move around! As we were settling the fella's parents arrived which was a little stressful - we had asked them to wait in reception area but think they were so excited to see her they couldn't wait. But we got sorted and they had their first cuddles. After they left we had a much needed family snooze - the fella and I on the bed and MBD in the cot.
Was weird when the fella had to go home but nice to have MBD with me. Finally got to watch a live World Cup game (Brazil Mexico) which was disappointing! So here begins me looking after our daughter myself.
I cannot wait
