Here I glow
Two days after my sunburn episode and I am back to work after yesterday's holiday. I had hoped that the redness would have faded a bit but I walked into the base this morning and the first person who clocked me, squealed out loud “Oh my God!” and I knew then that it was still as bad as I feared. We were due to go to a whole staff meeting so I made a point of sitting at the back where as few people as possible could see me. Mark came in and sat next to me – which was OK as he's used to me doing eejity things and this was just another to add to the list. However, part of the meeting unexpectedly involved us having to do a moving about activity. There was a picture in each corner of the room – a long and winding path, a stairway to heaven, the Earth from space and a key in a lock. We had to chose which one represented our views on what education means to us, go to that corner and then partner up with someone we wouldn’t usually partner ourselves with and spend a minute each explaining why we had chosen that picture. I really didn’t want to talk to anyone at all with my radioactive face, neck and chest so I hissed at Mark “Right, you and I are going to choose the same picture. I don’t care which one it is but we are going to go there and I am going to partner up with you so that no-one else can see my big redness”. He chose the long and winding path and I went first in explaining why I had chosen this one too. Obviously I hadn’t chosen it but I had to make something up so I said “I have chosen the Long and Winding Road because its my very favourite Beatles' track ….” Sometimes I find it hard to summon up enthusiasm for activities like this, and today was one of those days. Mind you it could have been worse. We could have had to do a role play – surely the worst activity of all?!
Anyway, I took a selfie at my desk later on to document the colour …..
