Snow Ditty!
A combination of yesterday's disappointment and having being stuck in the house for what seems like forever inspired me to get out there and do something for myself this morning.
I spontaneously joined the local leisure centre and had a fantastic work out. The gym is fab and the centre has a lovely pool, sauna, steam etc but best of all they have a crèche which means I will be able to go during the week as well, shake off those extra pounds and enjoy some time to myself as well.
The snow is coming down hard still and I reckon there must be at least 20 cm on the ground with another 10cm forecast tonight. It's hard to remember what the world looked like without it as it seems to of been here for such a long time.
In my boredom yesterday I wrote a little poem;
Another day, another inch
The white stuff it does fall.
Tiny flakes, like icy bricks
Building a snow wall 2 feet tall.
Travel chaos, schools shut down
The country grinds to a halt.
Snowed in mums and frozen thumbs
The world runs out of salt.
Picture postcard, a blanket of silk
Deepening by the day,
Snowmen gather, snowballs shatter
Children laugh and play.
Winter bites, we dream of spring
And wait for the world to thaw
Boredom grows while we warm our toes
And pray there is no more.
Today's blip shows baby Holly (20 months) who is the last of our children to appear on here about to take her afternoon nap. Peace and quiet at last.
