nonsenses & truths

Secret spaces

I just went for a wee in a Wetherspoons bog. The far cubicle has a locked door in the side wall, which someone appears to have forgotten to lock today, because during a gust of wind (emanating from the main exit, rather than a toilet visitor) it rattled. So out of curiosity I opened it up; it had a motion sensor so the light came on, and I was rewarded by this vista (and it went around the corner to the cistern mechanisms).

There is something that I find captivating about hidden places, even when they are just a cleaner's cupboard. A path through the woods, a rhododendron bush that is hollow inside...security and isolation combined.
