nonsenses & truths

Until I got to work this morning I had completely forgotten that I had a bike maintenance lesson this evening, which - in terms of time - I could have really done without.  However I turned up, minus a bike or sensible (i.e. old) clothes.  Neither of these mattered and we were soon creating problems for some poor mechanics to sort out tomorrow, with me sporting a fetching apron which was rather handy for keeping clean.

It was very basic but since I have never really learned the fundamentals properly - my knowledge of puncture fixing came from reading 'every girls' handbook' some years before I ever had a flat tyre - it was worth doing, and I hope there is a part 2.

Milliseconds after I asked my partner, who was busy pumping, to stop so that I could deflate a very worrying tyre bulge, the tube rectified the situation itself in a very loud fashion.  My hands were still feeling the shock after my ears had recovered, having been holding the wheel either side of the vale at the time.  Well it made for an interesting lesson.
