Wild garlic

I wanted a walk this weekend but the weather forecast wasn't great and I didn't want to go too far, so decided to revisit the Malverns - a pretty good day out by train from Coventry. I set out fairly early as the rain was supposed to come later, but I was a little too pessimistic and neglected to bring sun cream - cue red arms.

I started at the north end and walked south down the sleeping dragon's spine, and decided to head back via Colwall station instead of the slightly dull walk along the flat bit back to Malvern. I found this path just beside the toilets by the road near the Herefordshire Beacon; it was amazing to have spent the morning on grassy exposed hill tops and suddenly be in quiet woodland. The whole floor was covered by wild garlic, I've never seen so much of it before. I didn't pass anyone else for the whole stretch; I lost the path and for a while and thought I was going to have to climb over a 6 ft fence to get back on track, but happily I found a more legal exit.
