Hamurana Springs

Well actually it is not really the springs, but one of the streams flowing into the river that comes out of the springs! We had a camera club field trip this morning, a delightful area about 20 minutes drive from the centre of town. Not only beautiful crystal clear water, but a walk through a stand of very mature redwoods to the head of the springs.

One of members demonstrated how he used his GoPro camera underwater in the clear water of the river....a bit of kiwi ingenuity with it taped onto his wife's mop handle, but it worked a treat.

Then we explored using HDR to capture the contrasty light. There were a number of interesting shots but this one I liked particularly with the little waterfall in the distance. It is my first attempt at using Nik HDR plugin, hopefully it is not too artificial looking, I find many HDR photos have a real false look to them. LARGE
