Absolutely AMAZING!
Words cannot describe the feelings I felt of the experience from witnessing the Queen's Baton Relay visit our school today.
Before it even arrived in our school hall, I was welling up and had a lump in my throat from watching a video of the baton's journey so far. Seeing photos of children from Tonga, Ghana, Cyprus, Jamaica, Cayman, Australia, New Zealand, SA, etc etc; so many Commonwealth territories from around the world, made this event feel so unique, almost surreal. The anticipation of this baton, that has been touched by the Queen and hundreds of thousands of people of varied cultures, from around the world, was quite incredible. And the atmosphere I could hear from outside where the Acorn School children had lined the baton team's pathway was fantastic!
Two special children from our school were chosen to receive the baton from two children from Vauvert for them to deliver to two children reps at Melrose.
But before the baton was police escorted on to its next port of call, everyone was allowed to touch the baton. I was amazed and so thrilled that my pupils and I could gather round together to touch the baton.
Big thanks to Guernseygoat for taking the photo and sending it to me:-)
Guernsey Sports Commission have done a superb job at organising today. A massive thank you to them- awesome idea brilliantly done!!!
