Majestic!
The only word to use really for this wonderful Sea Eagle. You just don’t realise how big they are until you see one in the air. This is not a brilliant photograph, (I would not recommend going large!). My lens could not cope with the distance and I was on a rocking boat, but I think it captures the way they soar silently with seemingly no effort at all. A fantastic sight.
Another glorious day. (I don’t think this weather is going to last much longer.) We spent the morning exploring a little of Benbecula and South Uist. Then in the afternoon we returned to North Uist and the harbour at Kallin, where we went on a two hour boat trip around the islands and inlets of the East coast of North Uist. There were six of us on board and fortunately four of them were brilliant at spotting wildlife – they saw things long before we did.
A Sea Eagle was spotted and the boat was brought round so we could watch it as it perched on the hillside. Then it took off – what a sight! We also saw otters (fleetingly), several birds that I have forgotten the names of, deer on the island of Ronay and much more. A great trip.
If you want to see more stones – Tobha Mòr (Howmore), the site of four churches, medieval and post medieval.
If you want yet another empty white sand beach – Howmore.
