Hot yoga

Day 2, Halifax Nova Scotia: Still feeling pretty zonked after my trip and haven't had a chance to stop! My sister is volunteering at a yoga studio so she had a shift to work in the afternoon and after that attend a yin/yan yoga class. I decided to join her for the class as I was feeling pretty stiff and thought some relaxation and stretching might do me good. I arrived stressed and out of breath after nearly not making it due to the unreliable nature of the Halifax transport system (and I think buses in Edinburgh are bad!) As I entered the studio and made my way to my mat it occurred to me that the room was unusually hot ( I mean really hot!) "Is this hot yoga?" I asked my sister, knowing the answer before it came to me. I practice yoga on a regular basis but I've always avoided trying hot yoga as the thought of stifling in a 40 degree room strikes fear into my heart. Well it was too late to back out at this point I thought, might as well go for it. So I survived without fainting although I certainly had to take it easy, more than I normally would. I felt extremely relaxed by the end so it wasn't all bad! This photo was taken just outside the studio, not the most remarkable photo but I liked the calming colours and it reminds me that on this day I conquered one of my fears.
