Once upon a time
So, a memorable day but probably not for the right reasons. As you can tell we made the trip to Disneyland, thinking that going on a Wednesday during school term should mean less crowds. Wrong. Turns out Tokyo Disneyland is some sort of mecca for school trips....I don't really need to tell you that we didn't get on any of the big rides as we refused to queue for 90 mins for a 5 minute thrill. Much walking and disappointment until we just decided to go on anything that had a queue of less than 20 minutes. That meant we were still there for the starlight parade which saved the day in all it's brash colour and full on Disneyish brightness. The kids had fun in the end which is the main thing. Plus we got two goes on the Star Wars ride which was cool.
However, our tired journey home without my brother navigating almost ended in a nightmare, my toes are curling just thinking about it now. To cut a long story short, having successfully made three changes we realised that our final train didn't seem to be going in the right direction. A very kind, English speaking woman directed us across the platform to the right train. I turned round to check that mum, who by this point was weary enough to be using her walking stick, had not been left behind only to turn back to see the doors of the train closing on The Chief, who had boarded the train as directed!! Mothers instinct kicked in immediately as I screamed his name and grabbed the train doors to stop them closing completely! Thankfully there was a station attendant close by who grabbed the other door and we prised them open to release a rather terrified boy. Phew! Disaster averted and limbs shaking we made it back to my brothers, deciding this would become a story he could tell his grandchildren!
All in all, an eventful day.
