“It’s a character from a murder mystery game. It has a Japanese name but it roughly translates as Trigger Happy Havoc.”
I was seriously contemplating not going into town today after having checked the weather reports this morning, which basically had heavy showers forecasted all afternoon. However, there were several events which MrJohn kindly highlighted to me, plus I was keen to catch some cosplay for a 'mini-con' organised by the local Waterstones.
As I got into town, it started raining so we took shelter at the white cloth gallery, had a drink and waited for the rain to abate. One of the events was at Leeds Gallery, titled ‘Tattoo & the Art of Ink’ which we had a quick peak at before the private viewing this evening. It didn’t much inspire us so we decided not to revisit, and instead headed to Waterstones.
Inside I spotted Beth who, at that point, seemed to be the only person dressed-up (apart from a couple of staff members who I couldn’t really ask). She was waiting for a friend to arrive so I said I’d wait outside as I wanted a ‘street’ portrait.
It was still raining, and Beth didn’t fancy messing up her hair so I co-ordinated an insanely fast shoot where I asked her to run into the middle of the street, while there were no cars coming from either side, and I similarly ran into the road and snapped off a handful of shots. Inevitably, a car came along behind me and we were interrupted but I had managed to capture her adequately. MrJohn managed to get an excellent portrait of her however.
We waited outside the bookshop for a while longer and a couple more people arrived in cosplay and MrJohn took the opportunity to capture them. Unfortunately, those were the only people we saw in cosplay so we headed off home after waiting around a bit longer.
