“Oh, I’m just out doing a bit of shopping, and that’s all I’m prepared to say at this point.”


My encounter with Julian was a strange one. I saw him hanging around the art gallery and approached him for a picture. While I was explaining the project, he had his earphones in and it seemed like he was on the phone so I asked him if I was disturbing him.

“Oh no, I’m just listening to the radio”, he replied.

But he didn’t take them out of his ears the whole time, which was a little off putting but I went with it. He wasn’t much of a talker either which made it even harder to engage him. After I took some shots and started some small talk, he replied with the above and that was that.

I’d like to throw a theory into the mix here, and feel free to share yours, but I think Julian is a spy and was actually listening to radio chatter from his colleges on a mission of national importance! :)

On a side note, the statue behind Julian is the new installation outside the art gallery (Yet to be titled (Large Walking Figure)), part of Yorkshire Festival.
